Rowan Public Library
Now that students are back to school, Rowan Public Library wants to make sure that all children have the most important school supply of all ó a library card.
Owning a library card provides students the resources they need to compete academically.
The library provides students free access to databases of news articles, encyclopedias and test preparation materials, language learning, as well as homework help and resources. In addition, the library provides free Internet access, an important resource for families without access at home.
Activities at Rowan Public Library during Library Card Sign-up Month in September include weekly story times for children at each library location, teen programs, book clubs for children and adults, movie night, computer classes, and a real treat with nationally renowned storyteller Suzi Whaples performing a family storytelling concert on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Salisbury library.
ěThe library provides all types of students with the tools they need to succeed,î says Suzanne White, public services manager for the library. ěLibraries provide young readers with exciting and engaging programs that make learning fun. It is for these reasons that now more then ever, a library card is most important school supply of all.î
Getting a library card is easy ó bring photo identification showing current address, or photo identification along with other proof of current address, and bring your child under 17 to get a card for them.
Library Card Sign-up Month is a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.

Concord writer publishes book
PublishAmerica has released ěGod + Some Golf + Religion,î by Roger Grimm of Concord.
The press release describes the book: ěBelieve it or not, you as a Christian, are under some kind of bondage. Your church has control over you. Take this powerful, eye opening journey and learn the truth. This examination of the most popular religious doctrines will set every Christian free, if they accept it with an open heart. Free to love God, themselves, and others because they now know God loves them unconditionally. … Simple and easy to understand with many verses of scripture for support..
With many bad experiences in life and church, Grimm left God and religion for many years. Upon returning, he found everything had changed for the worse. After retirement God inspired him to write. He lives with his wife, Brenda, in Concord.
