346th Engineer Light Equipment Co. holds reunion
The 346th Engineer Light Equipment Company, a former Salisbury Army Reserve Unit, held its annual reunion on Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Fellowship Hall of Christiana Lutheran Church on the 61st anniversary of its call to active duty during the Korean War.
The unit, made up of local people, was activated in August of 1950, during the early months of the Korean War and served two years on duty.
A total of 22, including company members and wives, attended.
New officers include Carr Peeler, president; Gilbert Russell, vice president; Carr Peeler, secretary and treasurer.
Attending were Harold and Margaret Corriher, Glenn Corriher, Cecil and Mary Fisher, Kinard and Nathlyn Fisher, Robert and Anne Hartley, James and Mary Nussman, Arnold and Anne Peeler, Gilbert and Madge Russell, Marshall Swaringer, Jim and Anne Wilson and Zach, Ruth Ruble, Carr and Frances Peeler.
Delta Xi Omega
Chapter members of Delta Xi Omega of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. attended their biennial Leadership Conference from July 13-17. The conferenceís theme was ěLeadership and Service: A Timeless Mission.î
The conference provided information designed to meet the diverse leadership needs of the organization. Courses were segmented into three areas: Sorority Programs and Procedures, Leadership Skills for Graduate and Undergraduate Chapters, and Specialized Certification, which offered certification for key positions in the local chapters of the organization such as Candidate Certification, and Financial Officers Certification.
Delta Xi Omega members attending the conference were Renese Bates, Tanya DixonNeely, Carolyn Holt, Fonda Kirk, Ernestine Krider, Sarah Lightner, Cecelia McCorkle, Stephanie McNeil, ShíMyra Moore, ShíRae Moore, Lillian Morgan, Stephanie Morgan and Selma Suiter.
The national president of the Alpha Kappa Sorority is Carolyn House Stewart, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director is Dr. Lillian H. Gilliam and the president of Delta Xi Omega is Fonda Kirk.
