A Salisbury man was robbed while pumping gas at a local gas station Monday evening.
According to a Salisbury Police report, Charles Ellison, of 620 W. Liberty St., was pumping gas into his mo-ped at about 8:45 p.m. at 1014 W. Innes St., when three men approached him and circled him.
The report said one of the men punched Ellison in the face and began assaulting him.
Police say the man was able to flee to the nearby Sonic restaurant, but not before the thieves stole Ellison’s mo-ped. Ellison told police that the men drove the scooter north on Old Innes Street.
After calling police, authorities were able to find the mo-ped near Roy Street.
The report said there was a suspicious green Ford pickup with a wooden truck bed in the area. The report indicated the truck may have returned to pick up the scooter.
Salisbury Police said the investigation is ongoing.
