The N.C. Department of Transportation will put funds to work from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to complete a stimulus project on North Loop Road in Kannapolis, starting today, weather permitting. This is the final stimulus project to be completed in Division Ten.
During the first phase of construction, Loop Road was closed to traffic at the entrance to Kannapolis Village Park. The contractor installed a reinforced concrete pipe across Loop Road and through the park property.
During the second phase, the contractor will build and install a precast pedestrian culvert, complete necessary drainage installation, backfill the pedestrian culvert, and install curb, gutter and sidewalks.
Traffic will be detoured around the project site along Main Street. Local traffic may also use C Street, Mountain Street, Goldston Street and West A Street.
The project is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 9.
