Shag Club to host charity golf tournament Saturday

SALISBURY ó The Salisbury Shag Club is known for dancing, but this weekend it will take on charitable work.
Members will host the 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Saturday to benefit both Rowan Regional Hospice and Relay For Life of Rowan County. Net proceeds from the tournament will benefit the two charities.
The event is hosted in memory and in honor of all past and present Salisbury Shag Club members and their families who have suffered from cancer or a terminal illness, a statement said.
The tournament takes place at Corbin Hills Golf Club in Salisbury. The event is captainís choice format with a shotgun start at 2 p.m.
The play is limited to the first 32 paid teams and fees are $50 per person or $200 per team.
Included in the donation are greens fees, cart fees, five beverage tickets (20 per team), a barbecue chicken dinner and prizes. Chicken dinners will be available for spouses or significant others for $10 each.
Prizes include:
First place, $320
Second place, $260
Third place, $200
There will be an additional random drawing of one team for $100. All par three holes will have prizes for ěClosest to Pin.î
One tee will be designated for a ěHole in Oneî prize of a 2011 GMC Terrain donated by Scott McCorkleís Liberty-Pontiac-GMC.
Hole sponsorships are available for a $100 donation, and cart sponsorships in memory of or in honor of someone are available for a $25 donation.
