MOORESVILLE — Three adults were reportedly tied up and robbed Thursday night at a home off of Deal Road.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the armed robbery that took place about 9:20 p.m.
Capt. John Sifford said Scott Deal Beaver told investigators he was outside with his family when two black males pulled up in a gold colored Pontiac.
Beaver told police that as the men got out of the car and began to approach the home, he noticed one man armed with a shotgun and the other with a handgun.
The men forced the family inside the home where they tied up Beaver, his wife, Shirley, and Nicholas Fowler. Beaver’s three small grandchildren were not tied, but held in the same room.
Beaver told police one man told to take him to his safe.
He responded that he didn’t have a safe and didn’t keep money in the home. But the man told Beaver he knew there was a safe.
The two men got into a physical altercation. At that point one of the men threatened to shoot the children if Beaver didn’t comply.
Beaver took the man to the safe and was then forced to open the combination lock and give the man the money inside. Police have not released the amount of cash stolen.
The men left the home after receiving the money.
There is a limited description of the men. One has been described as tall and the other as average height.
The incident is still under investigation.
