Former representative visits Salisbury agency

Former U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge, now director of the N.C. Office of Economic Recovery and Investment, visited the Salisbury Rowan Community Action Agency Tuesday.
The visit was a planned tour of non-profits, community action agencies that operate weatherization programs and received additional funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus Program.
Etheridge met with members of the action agencyís staff, including Randall Dean, weatherization assistant director; Avery Staley, human resources director; Joann P. Diggs, interim executive director; Pete Kennedy, board chairman and Tammy Corpening, board member.
Several topics were covered in this meeting:
The need for the agency to ětell our storiesî and market itself to protect funding.
The Urgent Repair Program in Rowan County, encouraging the agency to make referrals to the program.
Staffing for the Weatherization Program.
Energy savings, job creation and changing peopleís lives by providing weatherization services.
