Salisbury Academy eighth-gradegraduation
On June 8, Salisbury Academy graduated the class of 2011.
Graduates of the Salisbury Academy eight grade class of 2011 are: Michael Anderson, Coleman Bergsma, Luke Combs, Chris Distin, Asa Hollingsworth, Ann Rollins Johnson, Jinesh Patel, Watson Pitner, Katie Queen, Casey Roswarski, Isabella Rusher, Gabe Steinman, Alexandra Warren, Elle Wimmer and Marshall Wood.
Diane Fisher welcomed guests and recognized two teachers for their years of service during graduation exercises. Sandy Jordan was recognized for her 15 years of service as the teacher of junior kindergarten, and Jan Ketner was recognized for her 10 years of service as kindergarten teacher.
As part of the graduation ceremonies, the eighth grade class presented their contribution of artwork to the Salisbury Academy Collection of N.C. Artists, sponsored by Bob Timberlake.
Speeches were presented by Valedictorian Isabella Rusher and co-Salutatorians Coleman Bergsma and Gabe Steinman of the class of 2011.
Other speakers at the graduation ceremonies were Greg Alcorn, chair of the Salisbury Academy Board of Trustees, and Heather Coulter, Head of the Middle School.
Seventh-grade students and their families hosted graduates and their guests at a reception immediately after the ceremonies.
Seventh-grade students also served as the junior marshals.
