SALISBURY — A Monday afternoon traffic stop led authorities to seize marijuana from two individuals who police were already looking for on other offenses.
A Salisbury Police officer stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Partee Street shortly after 2 p.m. The officer noticed a man in the passenger’s seat who earlier had been seen driving the vehicle. When the officer stopped the vehicle, a female was behind the wheel.
According to reports, that man, Claymore Jones Jr., 22, of 628 W. Bank St. Apt. B, Salisbury, was driving on a revoked license. Upon searching Jones, officers discovered 24.7 grams of marijuana hidden on him.
Jones was charged with misdemeanor driving while license revoked and felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance.
Jones was placed in the Rowan County jail under a $5,000 secured bond. He has since been released.
A backseat passenger, Christopher Streater, 37, of 619 S. Ellis St., Salisbury, who officers also had a warrant for failure to appear in court for an unauthorized use of a vehicle, was also arrested.
In a search, officers found 14 grams of marijuana hidden on Streater’s body. Streater was charged with misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and simple possession of a scheduled VI controlled substance.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $500 bond where he remains.
