South Rowan rising senior Kayla Corriher played for the Region 6 all-star team in the softball State Games held at Forsyth Country Day.
Corriher, an outfielder, went 2-for-4 in a 12-5 win against Region 8 and was 1-for-2 with a walk in a 3-2 win against Region 4.
Region 6 finished second in the tournament, losing the championship game 4-0 to Region 7.
Central Cabarrusí Alexis Bruce and Tori Cragan, Hickory Ridgeís AllysonYeager and Mount Pleasantís Taylor Carpenter were SPC players on the Region 6 team.
n Cyclocross
Salisburyís Emily and Katherine Shields earned second and third place, respectively, in the USA Cycling Junior Womenís National race Saturday in Augusta, Ga.
n American Legion
The Mooresville Moors lost two tough games on Saturday.
Both losses were by 4-3. The Moors fell to the Mooresville Legends on a walkoff homer by Thumper Marlowe in the afternoon and lost to Statesville in 11 innings Saturday night.
ěWeíre just not hitting right now,î Moors coach Josh Graham said.
n Minor leagues
Drew Lee and Kenneth Gilbert had two RBIs each to lead Kannapolis to an 8-2 win against Charleston on Saturday.
n Jerry Sands (Catawba) launched another homer for Albuquerque on Saturday. Sands knocked in two runs.
n Daniel Wagner (South Rowan) had two hits for Winston-Salem in Saturdayís 6-2 loss to Frederick.
n Bristolís Keegan Linza (North Rowan) pitched a scoreless inning in a loss to Kingsport on Saturday.
