Amateur Radio Field Day this weekend

The Elizabeth Hanford Dole American Red Cross Chapter will be hosting the Annual Amateur Radio Field Day for Rowan County on Saturday and Sunday.
Jared Gohlke, Rowan County Emergency Coordinator is the event planner.
The event will be open to the public on Saturday at 2 p.m. and continue to operate until Sunday at 2 p.m.
The public is invited to stop by and witness the communications between the HAM Radio Operators across the United States. This event takes place all across the United States during the same time frame.
Points are given to each ARES Group for different activities:
Points for each visitor that stops by;
Points for any elected officials that stop by and sign their book;
Points for the number of contacts the operators make;
Points given for voice contact, digital contact and also for Morse code contact.
There will be a raffle of a gift certificate from Walmart in the amount of $50 and other prizes.
The Rowan County Emergency Operations Communications Mobile Command Unit will be parked in the E.H. Dole ARC Chapter parking lot for tours.
