Bringle Ferry closure disrupts traffic

Drivers on Bringle Ferry Road are taking the long way this week to cross High Rock Lake.
The N.C. Department of Transportation is repairing the bridge there and has closed Bringle Ferry Road where it crosses the lake at the Rowan-Davidson county line.
The agency hopes to reopen the bridge by 4 p.m. Thursday.
To avoid the closure, motorists should take the following detour routes:
• Traveling west on Bringle Ferry Road: Take southbound N.C. 8 to N.C. 49 and turn right. Follow N.C. 49 and turn right onto Stokes Ferry Road. Follow Stokes Ferry Road and turn right on River Road. Follow River Road back to Bringle Ferry Road.
• Traveling east on Bringle Ferry Road: Turn right on River Road. Follow River Road to Stokes Ferry Road and turn left.
Follow Stokes Ferry Road to N.C. 49 and turn left. Follow N.C. 49 to N.C. 8 and turn left. Follow N.C. 8 back to Bringle Ferry Road.
