SALISBURY – The Salisbury Police Department arrested three people, including a Salisbury man, on felony drug charges Monday.
Salisbury police responded to a report that a car parked at North Green Street and Bringle Ferry Road was involved in drug activity early Monday morning.
According to the police report, when officers approached the car, they smelled marijuana and told the three people inside to step out.
The officers reportedly found cocaine within reach of Mandrail Jamar Woodberry, 21, of 825 N. Green St. in Salisbury. Woodberry also had a 9mm handgun, the report said, which he cannot legally carry as a felon.
Desirree Virnice Smith, 33, of 208 Pine Bluff Drive in Linwood, was sitting in the driver’s seat. Officers said they found cocaine, which Smith told them was deodorant, poured out on her seat and the floor.
Officers also found marijuana in Smith’s possession, and during a pat-down search they found cocaine on Demetrius Dion Nunn, of 418 Freezor Road in Lexington, the report said.
Woodberry was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon and felony possession of cocaine. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
Nunn was charged with felony possession of cocaine and placed in jail under a $10,000 bond. Woodberry and Nunn were still listed as inmates Tuesday morning.
