SALISBURY — A pool’s grand opening allows kids and adults alike to cool off during the hot weather. During the “dog days” of summer, it is always great when a pool or water park opens.
Teri Shaw, who was in charge of the grand opening Saturday at Lincoln Park Pool, was happy about the number who showed up.
“This pool has actually been open since the 1960s,” Shaw said. “We have been working really hard to make sure the pool is up to par, lifeguards are fully trained, and all pool equipment functions properly. We are lucky to have Chelsea Rehak with us. She has been a head lifeguard for four years now.”
Salisbury officials have been trying for a few years now to make additions to the pool, a splash pad and concession stand.
Elizabeth Gascoigne brought her children out to enjoy the summer sun.
“I really enjoyed myself, but I would tell parents they should definitely bring a life jacket for the young kids. They are not allowed to go past the 3 feet line without some type of flotation device. Floats are not permitted either.”
The pool’s operation hours are from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. It costs $1 for children and $2 for adults. Those 18 months and younger get in free.
Lincoln Park is located at 110 Old Concord Road and has a play structure and picnic area with tables and grills.
