Yard/bake sale for paramedic Saturday
CONCORD ó The Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast emergency department staff will host a benefit yard/bake sale this weekend for Charles Cardwell, a local paramedic who donated his kidney to an ER doctor there.
Cardwell, of Salisbury, works in Cabarrus County, and heard about the doctor so he signed up to be a kidney donor, never knowing if heíd be a match.
He was and the two men recently had transplant surgery. Both are now home recuperating.
The sale is Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 197 Union Street South, Concord.
Organizers are accepting donations of items to sell and baked goods as well as contributions to the SunTrust account set up for the Cardwells.
