“Pinocchio’s Sister,” a St. Thomas Players production, will be performed June 15-18 and June 22-25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Florence Busby Corriher Theater at Catawba College.
Tickets are $10 (students $5 with ID) general seating. June 15 is half-price night at the door.
“Pinocchio’s Sister” was written by Jenny Hubbard, who dedicated it to the late Lou Clement Murphy.
“I had faith in Lou’s faith in me,” Hubbard says.

The play features Linda Britt as Eva; Anne Cote Hoffman as Ruthie; 12-year-old Booth Pfaff as Guy; and Tammi Shumate as Dodd. Chris Speer is assistant director and stage manager.
The story is about second chances.
Dodd, the protagonist in the play, was taking care of her younger brother when he accidentally hanged himself.
Years later, Dodd becomes the guardian of her friend’s son, Guy, when her friend dies of breast cancer.
Like Pinocchio — though not the Disney version — Dodd makes mistakes that she doesn’t own up to. And like Pinocchio, in order to become a full-fledged human being, Dodd must acknowledge her flaws and mistakes and learn from them.
“ Only then can she grow out of her past and embrace her present,” Hubbard writes. “Pinocchio learns to save himself; so, in the end, does Dodd.”
Author Jenny Hubbard will be leading “talk-backs” with anyone in the audience who cares to participate on Wednesday, June 15, Wednesday June 22, and Thursday, June 23.
The Florence Busby Corriher Theater is located on the campus of Catawba College, down the hill behind Keppel Auditorium. A shuttle will be available on performance nights.
