SALISBURY — A Salisbury Police Officer was punched in the face by an intoxicated man early Sunday on South Main Street, according to an arrest report.
The report said Officer P.K. Schmeltzer encountered an intoxicated and disruptive Matthew Jessee Skeens, 25, and attempted to search him before arresting him. Skeens became combative and uncooperative, the report said, and punched Schmeltzer in the face.
Skeens, of 142 Weaver Hill Drive, Statesville, was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting, obstructing or delaying arrest and being intoxicated and disruptive. He was given a $5,000 secured bond.
