Salisbury Post enriches classroom experience
On behalf of my students and myself, I would like to thank the Salisbury Post and Sarah Campbell for the wonderful learning opportunities they have provided my students. You have enriched their educational experience.
I get the Salisbury Post delivered for my students three times a week.
They look forward to the days we get the newspaper. Many of my students choose to read the newspaper during free-reading time. They also use the newspaper to complete projects and homework for other classes. Of course, my students love it when they have an article featured or when they are named in the sports section!
The articles have also given me valuable teaching opportunities. I have used a number of articles to provide teaching experiences, such as the article on AP classes and the article, “Smart girls have more fun.” Your articles have enriched many of our class discussions.
I want to especially thank Sarah Campbell, who has given my students the opportunity to be reporters. I cannot begin to tell you how much it has meant to my students to write for the newspaper. They have loved this activity, and it has made writing “real” and meaningful for them. Ms. Campbell even visited our class and my students got to ask her questions about being a reporter. She has helped make my students’ learning truly wonderful.

Grateful for homecoming
To those at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport who brought SFC Donald M. Shue home from Hawaii, we, the Shue family, thank you. God bless you always. It was something we’ll never forget, walking to the plane, laying hands on the flag-draped coffin of our brother after 41 years.
As the tears fell, it was joy that he was home at last. Glory to God, for his word of knowledge years ago finally come to pass. God said He would bring Donnie home, not in our time but in His time. The word says there is a time and season for all things. And it was time for Donnie to be found on that hill in Laos and brought home.
We thank all the Vietnam veterans, Rolling Thunder, Patriot Guards and all the motorcycle riders who were there flying flags … a sight to behold.
To all the Green Berets, the MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam — Studies and Observation Group), we love you, and God bless you always. For all who came from out of state and even from Italy to honor our family and Donald at this memorial, God will bless you all for coming!
Thank you for all the gifts, the love, speeches and prayers. Thanks to the news media, photographers, TV coverage and newspaper write-ups. To the mayors of Concord and Kannapolis, you did a fantastic job.
A special thanks to the funeral home, especially Mr. Whit — a job well done.

An enjoyable performance
Recently my family and I attended our first play at North Rowan High School.
Susan Stone’s drama class presented “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,” the musical. It was great!
The first song set the mood for the rest of the show. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Mrs. Stone is to be commended for bringing out the acting and musical talents of these students.
I encourage everyone to go see these great students if you have the opportunity next year. You will not be disappointed.
