Heavy metal belly dancing

If you think belly dancing, you probably think middle eastern music — sitars and such. But belly dancers can rock.
Or raq, as it were.
“We Will Raq You” is a hard rock/heavy metal themed belly dance show coming to Concord at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 18.
Presented by Damhsa Gasra of Salisbury, the show featuresmore than 40 performers from across North Carolina, the show will take place at The Old Creamery, 363 Church St.
A wide variety of dance styles will be featured, from traditional to Gothic fusion, to fun, familiar music, ranging from Ozzy Osbourne to Bon Jovi to Slipknot.
Performers include Salisbury’s own Kalima Tribal, Carla of Turku, Kaleidoscope, and Metamorphosis from Nadirah Dance Co.
Other performers include Spirit of the Lotus, Damhsa Gasra, En-Trance Bellydance Co., Mahsati Janan, The Rising Sun Tribe, Mayhm de Nocture, Naima Sultana, Lotus Moon, Asali and many more.
