All invited to library’s 100th birthday

SALISBURY – The Rowan Public Library invites the local community to its 100th birthday party celebration Sunday afternoon at the library headquarters.
This centennial celebration will recognize those who started the library in 1911 and honor those who have supported it through its first century. It is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at 201 W. Fisher St. in Salisbury, and refreshments are included.
A rededication ceremony at 3 p.m. will include comments from community leaders, including Salisbury Mayor Susan Kluttz and Chad Mitchell, chair of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners.
The library is hosting a variety of vintage activities, including a scavenger hunt, old time childrenís games on the lawn and fantastic story times. Music will be provided by a brass band with Steve Etters, the Bar None Barbershop Quartet and classical guitarist Rob Howle.
