AARP annual membership picnic, noon, Thursday, June 2, followed by regular meeting at 1 p.m., Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, 1120 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., for Rowan County residents 50+ years old. Speaker: Patricia Cowan, Centralina Council of Governments. The local AARP chapter offers members community service, education, advocacy, leadership and fellowship opportunities. Dues $3 per year. Members do not have to be retired. Visitors welcome.
