SALISBURY — Juneteenth, celebrated every year on June 19, celebrates the emancipation of slaves across the nation, but this year’s celebration in Salisbury has been canceled.
Sherry Hawthorne, president of the Juneteenth committee, said she is accepting planning committee applications for the 2012 Juneteenth celebration.
Salisbury’s Juneteenth has been going on since 1994 at Kelsey Scott Park.
