SALISBURY, N.C. – A Salisbury Police officer shot and killed a dog after it attacked him while responding to a call that a dog was loose.
The dog also reporteldy tried to attack a child, authorities said today.
Saturday night officers responded to 1504 Brenner Ave. and found the front and side doors to the home were open, and clothes and property were strewn across the yard.
Just as officers walked onto the sidewalk to walk up to the home, a large Siberian Husky came running toward Officer Suad Jakupovic and bit the leg of his pants, growling. Jakupovic backed up with the dog on his leg, but the dog continued to growl at him.
Jakupovic fired two shots at the dog and the dog died.
The officers tried to contact the residents of the home, as there had been domestic disturbances at the home before, the report said.
They finally contacted Jennifer McCue, who was inside asleep. She told police the dog was supposed to be on a chain in the backyard, but he must have slipped off.
