A.L. Brown art showcase
A.L. Brown presented its first Artistsí Showcase in the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center last month.
The program featured students from all areas of the fine arts, including theater arts, chorus, band, visual arts, dance and humanities, in a collaborative effort to showcase the talents found within each discipline.
Highlights of the event were an art exhibit, which included a ěliving paintingî of George Seuratís Sunday on La Grande Jatte.
The models in the painting were students from the humanities class.
Musical selections from a recent play, ěYouíre A Good Man Charlie Brown,î as well as a Jazz Band accompaniment for a vocal solo, ěYou Canít Take That Away From Me,î also entertained those who attended.
Dancers performed a ballet piece to a selection from Alice in Wonderland.
The grand finale of the evening was ěDonít Stop Believing,î in which dance, drama, band and choral students all participated.
Senior theater arts students Joseph Coca and Prayer Jackson served as emcees for the inaugural event.
Money raised from the showcase will be used to purchase hanging microphones for the Performing Arts Center.
