SALISBURY — The Optimist Club of Rowan County held its annual Respect for Law Breakfast and Award Ceremony this morning and named Rowan County Sheriff Lt. Randy St.Clair the Paul G. Wilson Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
St. Clair, a 1978 graduate of South Rowan High School, earned an associate degree at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, as well as his Basic Law Enforcement Training, and has been in law enforcement for more than 30 years.
St. Clair is an original member of the Special Response Team, founded in 1986.
“I’ve had great people around me and working under me for my entire career,” St. Clair said.
Each law enforcement agency in the county, as well as the N.C. State Highway Patrol, Kannapolis Police Department and the Hefner VA Medical Center Police Department, presented awards to their own officer of the year.
