Kannapolis celebrates train day Saturday

The city of Kannapolis will be hosting the fourth Annual National Train Day Celebration on Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Kannapolis Amtrak Train Depot, 201 S. Main St.
The celebration will feature free refreshments from 9:30 a.m. to noon, train stories, songs and free train giveaways. Visitors can pick up train schedules and register for a train ticket raffle at the event. The NCDOT Rail Division staff will be on hand to answer train travel questions.
The city of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department will host a children’s craft session and have information on the Village Park train, future summer events, greenways and other city events and materials.
Trains will pull into the station at 7:57 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 12:57 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5:42 p.m., and 7:42 p.m.
