ROCKWELL — Residents worked to clean up debris from downed trees and limbs throughout much of Thursday morning.
An overnight storm brought strong winds that snapped trees and scattered limbs all over.
Julian Sides of Rockwell was one of those residents cleaning up after the storm tore through a tree in his yard.
Sides and friend Larry Fesperman spent about an hour cutting the rest of the tree limbs and made plans to haul off the debris.
“That’s really the only damage,” Sides said.
Duke Energy has been working through the morning to restore power to residents. As of about 1:15 today, there were 424 outages reported in Rowan County, which is down from the nearly 1,500 customers who were without power only a few hours ago.
