n Pro baseball
The New York Mets placed Bobby Parnell (East Rowan) on the 15-day disabled list with discomfort in his right middle finger.
The 26-year-old right-hander has a 6.14 ERA in eight appearances this season.
n Itís been good news and bad news for southpaw Spencer Steedley (East) at Double A New Britain so far.
Steedley has struck out eight while walking only one in his four appearances. The bad news is heís allowed five earned runs in 52/3 innings.
n Jackson second baseman Kyle Seager (NW Cabarrus) is off to a little bit of a slow start in Double A, but he had three hits on Wednesday, including two doubles, to bump his batting average to .264.
n Winston-Salem second baseman Daniel Wagner (South Rowan) was 1-for-6 in a 12-inning game on Tuesday to lower his batting average to .245.
n Infielder Chris Ahearn (Catawba) had two hits for the Rome Braves on Wednesday and is batting .222.
n Hagerstownís Wade Moore (Catawba, West Rowan) has had a tough time in the South Atlantic League in the early going. Moore went 0-for-4 on Thursday and is hitting .135 in 37 at-bats.
Mooreís famous teammate Bryce Harper is batting .250
