Salisbury resident Doug Ray shot video of tornado damage in the Farrington Meadows subdivision Sunday afternoon.
Ray lives in nearby St. John’s Wood neighborhood about 1/2 mile from the Farrington Meadows area.
During Saturday’s storm, Ray said that he was standing on his back porch when the wind picked up suddenly, “out of nowhere.” He watched his tent-gazebo almost get ripped off the back porch. Ray said that as quickly as it came, the storm died away.
Ray is editor of dragbikelive.com. He posted a first-hand account of his experience at http://dragbikelive.com/news/archives/7942.
Ray posted the video on YouTube with the following description:
Well there is not much to say except this was close! Very close, too close and the Dragbike Live.com studio missed this one by the hair of our chinny chin chin’s! The video below shows the destruction of a certified F1 Tornado only 1/2 mile from the Dragbike Live studio. The area is a small suburb of residential homes names Farrington Meadows, in which 20 homes took a direct hit form winds of over 105 miles per hour.
First I would like to send our condolences to all that may have lost loved ones int he severe storms and tornado’s that struck the east coast, Here in North Carolina, we had over 20 people that lost their lives. Saturday, April 16th, 2011 will live in the memory of everyone that was involved or near the devastation that occurred.
