SALISBURY — When Salisbury Police charged a man with breaking into a vacant house, they didn’t have to order him to get down on his hands and knees, he already was, hiding in a crawlspace under the home early Tuesday morning.
Police arrested Carlos Demont Watkins, 26, of the streets of Salisbury, and charged him with felony second-degree burglary and felony breaking and entering to commit burglary. He is in the Rowan County jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
Police received a call from a resident on Mitchell Avenue who said they saw someone with a flashlight in the basement of a neighboring house at 1316 S. Fulton St. Police responded to find Watkins hiding in the crawlspace with a bag filled with burglary tools, including bolt cutters.
