An 8-year-old student at Knollwood Elementary School reportedly brought a 6-inch serrated bread knife to school Monday.
According to a report by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the child entered the bus Monday morning at his bus stop and the bus driver noticed he was holding something in his hand and acting strange. The bus driver stopped the bus one block from the boy’s stop and found he had the knife, took it from him, secured it in his backpack and held onto the backpack until they got to school, the report said.
When they arrived all of the children got off the bus, but the boy was told to stay where he was. School authorities were outside with the boy’s mother and told her not to get on the bus. But the mother did, and took her son home.
No further details about the incident were available.
