Man charged with hitting child

GRANITE QUARRY — A Granite Quarry man is behind bars, charged with felony child abuse for hitting a 5-year-old boy, causing bruising and giving the boy a concussion, according to an arrest warrant with the Granite Quarry-Faith Police Authority.
Jared Charbonneau, 30, of 418 W. Bank St., was charged Thursday with felony child abuse, any serious physical injury and violation of a 50-B domestic violence order. He is in the Rowan County jail under a $35,000 secured bond.
According to the warrant, Charbonneau was watching his girlfriend’s 5-year-old boy on March 19 when the incident happened. A warrant for his arrest was issued March 28.
Charbonneau made his first appearance in court today, and will make a second appearance April 13.
