New York Times best-selling author and one of the nation’s most successful and prolific writers, John Feinstein, will deliver the spring commencement address at Pfeiffer University.
The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7 in the Garfield David Merner Center for Health and Physical Education on the university’s Misenheimer campus.
Feinstein’s books are described as those that take readers into interesting places they would not normally be allowed to go. He is the author of 27 books and his most recent works, “Moment of Glory” and “The Rivalry: Mystery at the Army-Navy Game,“ are immensely popular and are presently on shelves at bookstores everywhere.
His other works include the two top best-selling non-fiction sports books in history. In 1995, he published the all-time best seller “A Good Walk Spoiled,” a year inside life on the PGA Tour as told through 17 players on the PGA Tour.
Just behind that in sales is “A Season on the Brink,” which chronicled a year in the life of the Indiana basketball team and its enigmatic coach, Bob Knight. Feinstein traveled with the team and looked into the Indiana locker room, team practice sessions, Knight’s office, the team bus and airplanes. The book’s chart-topping success was also adapted to film with an ESPN production of a made-for-TV movie of the same title.
Additionally, Feinstein has written five young reader fiction works and earned the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Young Adult Novel for his book “Last Shot: a Final Four Mystery.“ Additionally, he is an award-winning columnist and regular national contributor for the Washington Post, Golf Digest, National Public Radio and other radio and television broadcasts.
