CHINA GROVE — An 18-year-old driver struck a utility pole and knocked out power in the area Thursday afternoon.
Joseph Daniels of China Grove was traveling north in the 600 block of Bostian Street when he said he swerved to miss a small animal and ended up striking a utility pole about 3:40 p.m. The downed pole caused a power outage to several blocks in the area.
Daniels’ air bags went off during the collision, but no injuries were reported.
