Here are views of North and South Main streets taken from the Wallace Building (called The Plaza today) in April 1978.

The photographs illustrate, for the most part, how much of the downtown streetscape remains intact, although the old hotel at the corner of North Main and Council streets would soon be leveled for a parking lot.
