ASU to offer programin Davie County
Appalachian State University is proposing to offer coursework leading to the add-on licensure in school administration beginning in August in Davie County.
An informational meeting will be held today at 5 p.m. in administration building room 110 at the Davie campus of Davidson Community College, 1205 Salisbury Road in Mocksville.
The licensure prepares individuals for a school principalship at all levels of public school and leads to initial licensure as a school administrator in North Carolina.
Applicants to this program must have a masterís degree in education or related field from a regionally accredited college or university with a GPA of 3.0 or better; at least three years of successful licensed teaching experience or successful licensed experience in another related area of public school work (counseling, media specialist, etc.); and a valid license to teach and/or practice one of the other educational specialties in N.C. public schools.
Students in the program meet a maximum of two evenings a week for four consecutive semesters including a summer session. The program will be completed in December 2012.
