Austin Szelkowski hit mile 670 of his 3,000-mile trek from coast to coast in Salisbury on Wednesday.
But the 24-year-old Michigan native isn’t taking a typical cross-country drive, he’s rollerblading.
Szelkowski stayed at Rowan Helping Ministries on Wednesday night, departing for Charlotte about 9 a.m. Thursday.
He started his journey from the Statue of Liberty in October.
Many wonder why he’s rollerblading from coast to coast and he says the answer is simple.
“The purpose in the basic sense is to inspire people to take on big challenges, to believe that they can do anything if they just have the courage o start, ” he said. “The core message is to inspire entrepreneurship and a pioneering spirt.”
