Thirty minutes into his 21st birthday, Ty Webb had nearly been hit by a tractor-trailer, ran from police, cursed at them and got himself arrested, a Salisbury Police report said.
Ty Oliver Webb, 21, of 1595 Crescent Road, Rockwell, was charged Tuesday morning with resist/delay/obstruct a police officer, intoxicated and disruptive and impeding traffic by standing, sitting or lying on a highway or street. He was given a $2,000 secured bond.
Police were called to Statesville Boulevard around the Fuel Depot and Carriage Room bars on a report that a man was in the middle of the road and a tractor-trailer driver had to swerve to avoid hitting him, the report said.
As Officer L.T. Walker arrived, he saw Webb hitting the truck because he was mad. When the officer turned on his blue lights, Webb took off through the parking lot behind Fuel Depot, and the officer followed. As Webb headed through the parking lot of the shopping center toward Blue Bay, Walker chased him on foot, and Webb dove behind bushes at the Eye Center, trying to hide.
Officer Walker was able to put Webb in handcuffs, but Webb told the officer he felt like he was going to vomit. Walker sat him up and waited for backup to arrive.
When officers arrived Webb began cursing, saying he was a member of the Aryan Brotherhood and Ku Klux Klan, and said, “F— the police,” the report said.
The report also said Webb said the officers were “b—— behind a badge,” and he wasn’t scared of the police, that they’ve “whooped his ass” before and he wasn’t scared.
Police reported Webb was “extremely intoxicated.”
Webb was released from the Western Youth Institution in October 2010 on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. While incarcerated, Webb had three infractions — self-injury, assaulting staff by throwing liquids and using profane language.
