SALISBURY, NC – Cancer may take away a woman’s energy or appetite, but it does not have to take away herself-confidence. Look Good…Feel Better, a program of the American Cancer Society, is a free two-hour workshop for women undergoing cancer treatment.
This program helps improve the self-image, appearance, and quality of life of patients by teaching beauty techniques to help cope with the temporary appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
In LGFB sessions, volunteer cosmetologists lead the program that includes a 12-step skin care and makeup program designed to teach women how to cope with skin changes using products donated by the cosmetic industry.
Women also learn about hair loss, wigs, scarves and other accessories.
Each participant receives a free gift kit of full size name-brand cosmetics for use during and after the workshop. A self-help video is available for women who cannot attend the program.
A Look Good…Feel Better volunteer facilitator training will be held on Monday, January 31 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the ACS office in Charlotte. Lunch will be provided. To attend this volunteer training session and receive certification as a LGFB facilitator, participants must be a licensed cosmetologist.

This program is made possible through a collaboration of the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the Professional Beauty Association | National Cosmetology Association.
