The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a citizens informational workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 25, to give area residents a chance to learn more about the proposed replacement of the Wilshire Avenue SW bridge over Irish Buffalo Creek in Cabarrus County.
NCDOT representatives will be on hand from 4:30 to 7 p.m. to provide information, answer questions and accept written comments regarding the project at the Sherrill Community Building, Les Myers Park, 338 Lawndale Ave. in Concord.
Citizens may drop in anytime during the workshop hours, as there will not be a formal presentation. Maps of the proposed project area will be displayed. Comments and information received from the public will be taken into consideration as work on this project progresses.
This project calls for replacing the current bridge with a new structure. There are two alternatives under consideration. The new bridge may stay in its current alignment or it may be built south of the current location. No matter which alternative is selected, traffic will be using a temporary detour along U.S. 601 and South Union Street. NCDOT will work to minimize construction time and any disruption to traffic.
