Music teacher left lasting impression
Regarding the death of music teacher George Wilson Sr.:
I am a 1964 graduate of Boyden High School. I spent four glorious years playing in the concert and marching bands. I also played in the orchestra for all the musicals during my four years at Boyden.
Mr. Wilson had a tremendous impact on my musical career and instilled in me the confidence to do the best (he really pushed hard for dedication and perfection). Mr. Wilson suggested that I play at military funerals, which I did. I continued with my passion for music at Appalachian and also majored in elementary education. Even now, I still play the trumpet for my church and often for weddings.
Mr. Wilsonís demands on myself to always achieve to be the best helped me to be a successful teacher and administrator in the Forsyth County schools for the past 35 years. He meant so much to me and I will truly miss him.
