Rowan County will be under a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. until midnight and snow could start falling before 3 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
But Monday could be when Rowan gets another blanket of snow.
The agency says precipitation will start as rain but could change to snow as temperatures fall. Snow could continue overnight and an inch or two of accumulation is possible.
The next chance for snow is Sunday night, the Weather Service predicts. Snow is likely throughout the day Monday and also possible Tuesday.
“It is looking increasingly likely that heavy snow may fall across the region between Sunday night and early Tuesday,” the agency says in its advisory.
The Weather Service defines heavy snowfall as accumulation of four inches or more in 12 hours or less, or six inches or more in 24 hours or less.
A winter weather advisory for snow “means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities … and use caution while driving.”
