Film about Food & How Itís Grown to be Shown at Center for Environment Facility

– SALISBURY — The documentary FRESH, dubbed ěa fresh look at food production,î will be shown at the Center for the Environment facility on the Catawba College campus at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28. – – The screening, co-sponsored by the Center, Bread Riot and Wild Turkey Farms, offers a positive message about small farms and local food. A panel discussion will follow with Dr. Chris Magryta of Salisbury Pedatrics, Maggie Blackwell of the Salisbury City Council and Bread Riot, Lee Menius of Wild Turkey Farms and Libby Post of Rowan/Salisbury Schools. Bread Riot will prepare a reception. – – FRESH is a grassroots effort to grow fresh food and ideas. Filmmaker Ana Sofia Joanes is releasing the movie to small groups to ěmimic the food movement in that whatís really growing is not different food but a new awareness. You cannot create a new vision or shift of consciousness from the top down,î she says. ěIt must come fromÖthe bottom up.î – The screening and panel discussion are free and open to the public but registration is required.
