DeMarcus Cousins finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats (13-0) continued their best start in more than 30 years.
The Wildcats led 58-55 before using their size to outmuscle the 49ers down the stretch.
“On the game before Christmas following the 2,000th win where there is a celebration and people are going nuts, there is going to be a little bit of a letdown,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ó Sylven Landesberg scored 14 points, grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and dished out six assists.
Sammy Zeglinski added 13 points as Virginia (6-4) made a season-high 11 3-pointers.
Virginia played its third game in a row without starting forward Mike Scott, who has a sprained right ankle.

BOSTON ó Joe Trapani finished with 18 points after a rough start and Corey Raji added 18 to lead Boston College in the Commonwealth Classic.
Rakim Sanders added 15 points and eight assists for BC (8-4). It had 53 points after halftime.
