Weather becoming treacherous

After a rainy start to the morning, wintry weather moved in across Rowan County in the late afternoon hours, producing a number of accidents, including a report of several cars off the road on Interstate 85 near Webb Road.
Predictions of 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet led Rowan-Salisbury and Kannapolis City school systems to dismiss early.
A number of local events were cancelled, including the Candlelight Tour of Churches in Spencer.
That event will be rescheduled.
Road conditions throughout the county are becoming treacherous.
Police and fire officials have begun to report ice and slush in high spots on roadways as the day wears on.
A winter storm warning remains in effect for Rowan County until 7 p.m. Saturday.
Livingstone College has cancelled evening activities.
