Cleveland spelling bee
Cleveland spelling beeSteven DiVanna was crowned grand champion at the annual spelling bee for Cleveland Elementary on Nov. 23. Jordan Thorpe was runner-up.
Participating students were fifth-graders from Betty Massey’s and Bob Terry’s rooms.
Classroom champions from Massey’s room were Monique Everhart, Timmy Wilmot, Kristen Freeman, Jordan Thorpe, Skylar Hildebrand and Amber Talbert.
Classroom champions from Terry’s room were Jamie Henriquez, Freddy Wall, Makayla Goodman, Steven DiVanna, Freddy Rodriquez and Toby Brown.
DiVanna will participate in the system-wide spelling bee at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the Teaching Auditorium.
Jeanette Stewart and Pam Oliver were judges.
