A 40-year-old Salisbury man who was struck by a car Saturday night is in a Winston-Salem hospital in serious condition.
Terry Alexander, 40, of 623 Forney St., was airlifted to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following the mishap around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Initially, his condition was described as critical, but had been upgraded to serious Monday, according to a hospital spokesman.
The accident occurred at 8:51 p.m. Saturday at 410 E. Council St.
According to a Salisbury Police Department report, Alexander walked into the path of a 2002 Toyota Camry, driven by Nathan Moore, 22, of 410 Leonard Road.
Deputy Chief Steve Whitley said Moore swerved to avoid Alexander but could not.
Alexander was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Winston-Salem.
Whitley said Alexander had consumed alcohol, which was a factor in the accident.
No charges will be filed against Moore.
