Person burned in Kannapolis fire

KANNAPOLIS ó A resident was hospitalized with burns after a house fire early Friday.
The Kannapolis Fire Department responded to 509 Short St. just after 5 a.m. The first firefighters on the scene found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house, a Kannapolis Fire Department press release said.
Firefighters quickly made access into the home to extinguish the fire.
Three people were home at the time. One of them suffered burns as a result and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, the fire department press release said.
No further information on the burn victim was available. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday.
