The Jubilee Choir will present its annual Christmas concert, “Hail the Newborn King,” Sunday at 5 p.m. at Moores Chapel AME Zion Church at the corner of Partee and Monroe Streets in Salisbury.
The concert opens with a candle- light procession, singing “The Morning Star,” a Moravian Christmas hymn.
The first part of the program features carols that describe the purpose of the birth of Jesus. The second part includes the people singing praise in anticipation of his coming. Part three brings the good news of that day when Jesus Christ was born.
Soloists are Quentin Woodard Jr., Roy Leazer, Antoine Brisbon, Phyllis Partee, Alexis Greer, Monica Green and Rebecca Stinson.
The congregation will join the choir in singing “Hark the Herald,” “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Joy to the World.” The concert is free and open to the public. An offering will be received.
Kay W. Norman is music director for the Jubilee Choir. This is the ninth annual Christmas Concert for the choir.
Refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall.
First Presbyterian
On the Second Sunday of Advent, Dec. 6, First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury will begin the day with an 8:30 a.m. worship in the sanctuary, an abbreviated service. An 8:50 a.m. , Life Center worship service will be in Lewis Hall and an Advent gathering (refreshments and fellowship) at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
Sunday School for all ages at 10 a.m. will be followed at 11 a.m. with a Service of Lesson and Carols featuring the Catawba Choirs. All are welcome to attend.

Cornerstone
Cornerstone Church will present its adult Christmas program on Dec. 6 at both 9 and 11 a.m. services, provided by the church’s Creative Art ministries. The public is invited.
Cornerstone’s annual Christmas banquet takes place Sunday, Dec. 13, at The Event Center at 6 p.m. The program will be “Christmas around the World” with renowned pianist Adlan Cruz.
Cruz was selected to represent his country in Spain at the Fifth Centennial Celebration of the Discovery of America, which was played in more than 20 countries.
The public is invited to a dinner theater catered by Chef Henry. Tickets are $20, for ages 16 and over.

Advent supper
KANNAPOLIS ó The First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis will conduct its annual Advent Celebration this Sunday. The evening will begin with a covered dish supper in the fellowship hall at 6 p.m.
Following supper, the children in Kidz Khoir and Discovery Club will present “Visions of Christmas,” a musical revue compiled by Jeff Slaughter. The collection of holiday favorites and original songs uses humor and visual enhancements to tell the Christmas story. Dramatic readings, solos and other special music will complement the program.

Organ Lutheran
The public is invited to attend a Christmas play at Organ Lutheran Church.
“The First Gift of Christmas” will be performed in the Old Church at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13.
A “Birthday Party for Jesus” and the giving of treat bags, sponsored by the Social Ministry Committee, will follow the play in the fellowship hall.
Organ Lutheran invites the public to its Christmas Cantata, “The Living Crčche.” The cantata will be presented during the worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20. All choirs will participate.
Later in the day on Dec. 20, Organ Church members and friends (all ages) will meet at the church at 4 p.m. to continue their Christmas caroling tradition. Through familiar carols they will spread Christmas cheer to shut-ins and others upon request.
On Thursday, Dec. 24, at, 7:30 p.m., the church will hold its traditional Christmas Eve candlelight service with Holy Communion.
