Salisbury man charged with Nov. 19 armed robbery

A Salisbury man was charged Monday with an armed robbery that happened Nov. 19.

According to a warrant filed at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office, Derrick J. Brown, 18, of the streets of Salisbury, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

He is accused of robbing Charles Edward Rhodes with a stainless steel revolver. Brown made off with a cell phone and $157 in cash.

Brown is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $250,000 bond. According to his warrant, Brown remarked to a bondsman that he was “thinking of taking off to Florida” as soon as he got his paycheck.
